Roberneian Bridge II

Roberneian Bridge II

  by Deb Archdeacon

The day cometh when the chosen few
Are summoned – a grand opening to view
The sturdy, strong and imposing sight
That a swelling river will doggedly fight
To sink beneath the Ferguson waters
A muddy grave its final quarters

But wait – tis Cheryl here to liberate
The bridge from an eternal fate
With a stroke of her genius quill
And a dab of unbridled Welly will
A name has been brought to mark the day
From here forth let it be known as “Bidet”!!

Good grief how could such a bridge ever sink
Just imagine the awful stink
That would be forever brought to bear
On a river who would declare
Open warfare on a bridge whose name day
In the books will forever stay

So here’s to the Roberneian structure
Which will remain come bluff or bluster
As testament to all the brave men
Who heaved and ho’d and grunted and then
Stood back and drank to its moment of truth
Roberneian on – “bidet” – STRUTH!!
